Past Simple Negative (Kids & Teens)

We use the Past Simple negative to say something did not happen in the past.

Form:

subject + didn’t + base verb

1. I didn’t play football.
2. She didn’t watch TV.
3. They didn’t go to school.

Didn’t = did not.

After didn’t, always use the base form of the verb:

1. ✅ didn’t play
2. ❌ didn’t played
3. ✅ didn’t go
4. ❌ didn’t went

With be, use wasn’t / weren’t, not didn’t be:

1. He wasn’t tired.
2. We weren’t at school.
