Do you know anything about rainforests? In pairs, participate in the quiz and learn some information.

Rainforests are special places on Earth. They are mostly found near the equator in Africa, Asia, South America, and Central America. Rainforests have a unique climate that is warm and humid all year round. It rains a lot in these forests, sometimes over 200 days a year. This wet and warm climate helps many plants and animals live there. One of the most important plants in the rainforest is the tree. These trees have thick leaves and branches that make a big roof, called the canopy. The canopy helps keep the forest floor dark and damp. Below the canopy, there are many other plants like shrubs, vines, and small flowers. Some plants, such as the orchid, grow on the trees’ branches high above the ground. Rainforests are home to many animals. Some of the most famous are monkeys, parrots, and toucans. These animals often live in the trees where they find plenty of food and places to hide. On the forest floor, you can find insects like ants and butterflies, as well as larger animals like jaguars and tapirs. Many of these animals have bright colors to warn other animals or to attract mates. Rainforests are important because they help the Earth. They produce a lot of the oxygen we breathe and they clean the air by absorbing carbon dioxide. They also provide homes for many animals and plants. Sadly, rainforests are in danger because of human activities like logging and farming. It is important to protect them so we can keep enjoying their beauty and benefits.
