1. Ordinal Numbers We use ordinal numbers for the day in a date. Examples: 1 → first (1st) 2 → second (2nd) 3 → third (3rd) 4 → fourth (4th) 5 → fifth (5th) Most ordinal numbers end in -th. First, second, and third are different. 2. Writing Dates The day comes before the month. Form: the + ordinal number + of + month Examples: the 1st of May the 14th of February the 23rd of August 3.
