Study the rules.

We use the Past Simple negative to say something did not happen in the past.

Form:

subject + didn't + base verb

  1. I didn't work yesterday.
  2. She didn't call me.
  3. We didn't go outside.

Use didn't with all subjects: I, you, he, she, it, we, they.

After didn't, use the base form of the verb:

  1. ✅ didn't play
  2. ❌ didn't played
  3. ✅ didn't go
  4. ❌ didn't went

For be, use wasn't / weren't, not didn't be:

  1. I wasn't tired.
  2. They weren't at home.
