Read the rules.

We use the Present Continuous for things happening now or around now.


Positive:

am / is / are + verb-ing

I am reading.

She is cooking.

They are playing.


Negative:

am not / isn’t / aren’t + verb-ing

I am not sleeping.

He isn’t working.

We aren’t talking.


Questions:

Am / Is / Are + subject + verb-ing?

Are you listening?

Is she studying?

Am I speaking too fast?


Spelling:

Usually add -ing: play → playing

Drop final -e: make → making

Sometimes double the last letter: run → running
