1. Yes/No Questions with “be” (am / is / are)

We use “be” to ask about:

  1. names
  2. age
  3. feelings
  4. places

Structure:

Be + subject + … ?

Examples:

  1. Am I late?
  2. Is she happy?
  3. Is it a dog?
  4. Are they your friends?

Short Answers:

  1. Yes, I am. / No, I’m not.
  2. Yes, she is. / No, she isn’t.
  3. Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.
  4. Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.

Key Rule:

The verb “be” comes first in the question.

2. Yes/No Questions with “do / does”

We use do/does with action verbs (like eat, play, go, like).

Structure:

Do/Does + subject + base verb + … ?
