Adverbs of frequency tell us how often something happens. They help to describe the frequency of actions in sentences. We use them to give more information about verbs. "Always" means 100% of the time. Example: I always eat breakfast. "Usually" means about 80% of the time. Example: I usually go to bed at 10 PM. "Often" means about 60% of the time. Example: I often walk to the office. "Sometimes" means about 40% of the time. Example: I sometimes watch TV in the evening. "Rarely" means about 20% of the time. Example: I rarely eat fast food. "Hardly ever" means about 10% of the time. Example: I hardly ever go to the gym. "Never" means 0% of the time. Example: I never drink coffee. Things to Pay Attention To: Adverbs of frequency usually go before the main verb but after the verb "to be." Example: She is always happy. Example: They often play soccer.
