The superlative degree is used to show that something is the best or the most of a group. We often use it to compare three or more things. To form the superlative, you usually add "-est" to the end of one-syllable adjectives. For example: - tall → tallest - fast → fastest For adjectives with two syllables ending in "y," change the "y" to "i" and add "-est": - happy → happiest - busy → busiest For adjectives with two or more syllables, use " the most" before the adjective: - beautiful → the most beautiful - interesting → the most interesting Examples: - My dog is the fastest runner in the park. - This is the tallest building in our city. - She is the happiest kid in class. - That was the most exciting game ever! Some adjectives change completely in the superlative degree: - good → best - bad → worst Remember, you use the superlative when comparing three or more items or people to show which one stands out the most. We generally use it with 'the'. This is because there's only one (or one group) of the thing we are talking about.
